This year’s open day at the University of Tasmania is set to offer would-be students an “immersive” virtual experience.
Due to COVID-19, UTAS will present its open day via a virtual platform through which attendees will be able to attend live events.
From tours of Tasmania and the university’s existing and future campuses to webinars and opportunities to speak with staff and students through a live chat function, there’s no arguing that the 2020 open day will be different to those seen in previous years.
In other news:
“Open day is all about bringing our distinctive learning and research opportunities to life,” UTAS executive director of marketing Michelle Weir said.
“It is a chance for the community to ask our students and staff their questions, gather information to help guide their educational journey and develop an authentic sense of what studying with us is really like.
“The virtual platform … will simulate the traditional ‘walk-through’ experience, with those joining us having the option to navigate their own path from a central lobby.
“As the university for Tasmania, now more than ever we are here to support our aspiring learners in achieving their higher education goals and we are very excited to welcome them.”
Open day begins on Friday, August 28 and continues on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30. It will run from 10am-5pm each day.
