A man on board a boat from Victoria arrived on the Northern Tasmania coast on Thursday, but had alerted authorities of his arrival and has been taken to hotel quarantine, the State Control Centre has confirmed.
The boat – containing a Tasmanian man – sailed into Beauty Point and was met at the Bell Bay Port by officers from Biosecurity Tasmania and Tasmania Police.

A spokesperson for the State Control Centre said the incident was an example of the system working as intended and the man was in government-managed accommodation.
“He had the appropriate permission to enter Tasmania provided he spent 14 days in hotel quarantine at his own expense,” the spokesperson said.
Police attended as part of normal procedure and there was no suggestion of wrongdoing.
Anyone entering Tasmania is required to provide their details as part of the G2G PASS system.
