Three new coronavirus cases in Queensland as restrictions placed on Gold Coast

Three new case of coronavirus have been recorded in Queensland overnight, all linked to a trainer at corrective services who tested positive earlier this week.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said two of the cases were at Pinkenba on the Gold Coast and the other was from Forest Lake in Brisbane.

She said all 25 people deemed close contacts of the trainer returned negative results.

With the latest cases hitting the Gold Coast, the Premier said new restrictions will come into place as of Saturday 8:00am.

As with Greater Brisbane, gatherings inside and outside people’s homes will be limited to 10 people.

“We know that people travel a lot from the Gold Coast to Brisbane so now it makes absolutely perfect sense to extend that,” she said.

More to come.
