Former City Mission chief executive and now City of Launceston mayor Albert van Zetten has led the council since 2007.
I have photographed the mayor chairing council meetings, but it is in the community where I see him attending all sorts of events – always happy to be in a photo to promote what is happening in Launceston.
I have often been at Launceston citizenship ceremonies where the mayor presents new Australians with their citizenship. The mayor makes a point of crouching down to welcome the children to their new country.
Cr van Zetten, not known for his skate boarding skills, was hesitant when I suggested he ride a skateboard at the opening of a new council built skateboard facility at Ravenswood.
But he again took part in a photo to promote the work the council is doing to provide facilities for young people.
At the opening of Riverbend Park last year, he was there to officially open the new park by sliding down the giant slide for the first time.
So, he invited Jaxan Job, 10, of Exeter to join him.
These are just some of the photos I have taken of Cr van Zetten in the past 13 years.
Other photographers from The Examiner have also taken a similar number of photos of the mayor.
Till next time,
