Panthers hammer Sharks to extend lead atop the NRL ladder

Penrith has tightened its grip on top of the NRL ladder after hammering Cronulla Sutherland 38-12 at Panthers stadium.

The Panthers outscored the Sharks seven tries to two in a lopsided contest.

Viliame Kikau, Josh Mansour (2), Brent Naden, Stephen Crichton, Liam Martin and Jarome Luai all crossed for the hosts, who go three points clear at the top of the ladder.

Jesse Ramien and a late effort from Connor Tracey crossed for the 7th-placed Sharks.

More to come.
