Queensland-based digital currency Qoin is being adopted by businesses in Northern Tasmania.
Qoin is a blockchain utilising currency, similar to Bitcoin, that offers an alternative digital method to pay for goods.
Gravelly Beach operation Darkwood Construction is one Northern Tasmanian based business to use Qoin as an alternate payment option.

Co-owner Matthew Collins said offering a digital currency option for customers was important.
“Our business is about innovation and keeping ahead of the game and that includes the was we seek payment for our services,” Mr Collins said.
Qoin chief marketing officer Andrew Barker said the economic climate under COVID-19 meant many businesses were looking at new ways of conducting transactions which included using digital currencies.
