Snow may no longer be blanketing the roads but motorists are still being urged to drive with care this morning, as police warn of slippery conditions. While the stretch of the Midland Highway between Campbell Town and Melton Mowbray remains open, Tasmania Police has issued a community alert imploring drivers to exercise caution on that part of the road. On the Esk Main Road between Avoca and Conara, extreme caution is advised. “Motorists are warned to use caution when driving on elevated roads which have the potential to be affected by the current weather conditions including snow, ice, rain and damaging winds,” police say. Meanwhile, Gunns Road at Mathinna is currently closed. Poatina Road, from Highland Lakes Road to Poatina Village, is open only to four-wheel drive vehicles, as is Lake Leake Road, between Campbell Town and Swansea. There are several minor flood warnings active in the state’s North. These are for the Macquarie River, the North Esk and South Esk rivers and for East Coast catchments.
