Northern Tasmanians will unfortunately not see volunteers out and about for Legacy Week this year, due to COVID-19, but can still pledge their support online.
Legacy’s main fundraising event, to support club services for Australian families after injury or death of defence personnel, has been cancelled and instead a digital approach will be taken.
Launceston Legacy’s senior vice-president Terry Byrne said every year it was the service’s big fundraising week.

However he said with the age of many legatees making them more susceptible, a digital approach was the only option.
“We don’t get money from the government, apart from a grant or two,” he said.
“This was our big fundraising week.”
Every little bit counts but Mr Byrne said due to the pandemic he understood people would be unable to donate like they used to.
All of the funding received from Launcestonians who support the online cause will go to the city’s Legacy club.
