A man has been taken into custody after a standoff at Invermay.
The 33-year-old Gagebrook man was allegedly armed with a knife when he entered a warehouse on Gleadow Street and refused to leave.
Police allege the man assaulted officers and threatened them with a knife when they tried to pull him over while he was riding a motorbike in the area on Saturday afternoon.
He then barricaded himself inside a nearby warehouse.
Members of Tasmania Police, Ambulance Tasmania and Tasmania Fire Service were involved in negotiations with the man.
He was taken into custody shortly after, and was assisting police.
An armed man has locked himself inside an Invermay warehouse refusing to come out.
Police were on the scene in Gleadow Street on Saturday afternoon, just before 5pm.
It was understood police had attempted to pull a man over while he was riding a motorbike in the area.
“The man evaded police and entered a warehouse,” police said in a statement.
“Police are negotiating with the man for him to safely exit the building.”
