Like many boutique bars in Launceston, Brisbane Street Arcade’s Bar Two has noticed an increase in local traffic since reopening.
Owner Nate Cairns said the bar portion of the establishment closed during the peak of COVID-19 in Tasmania, however the pizza takeaway portion remained open.
“It was just more of a hibernation type of thing … obviously we didn’t make anything but we didn’t lose much either,” he said.

While Mr Cairns said the natural absence of any interstate or overseas visitors was noticed, the level of traffic in the bar had remained steady due more locals patronising it.
“The first few weeks back were awesome for us … it’s amazing, the locals have been incredible,” he said.
“Trade is about the same but without interstate and overseas clientele you notice that locals have really come out more and are enjoying the town and supporting local business.”
Mr Cairns said he may even look into expanding his business in the coming year, depending on the COVID climate.
