Labor leader Rebecca White says she is confident she will lead Labor to the next state election.
An EMRS poll released on Tuesday showed the party’s approval rating had sunk to 24 per cent, compared to the government’s approval rating of 54 per cent.
Ms White’s personal approval rating was 23 per cent, compared to Premier Peter Gutwein’s rating of 70 per cent.
Despite the results, she said her parliamentary colleagues were united behind her.
Ms White said support for the government was higher than that for Labor due to the handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
“We want people to trust the government and follow the direction of government, particularly when it concerns the health and wellbeing of our community during the pandemic.”
Ms White said Labor had supported many of the government’s decisions during the pandemic and pressured them to make certain decisions that it eventually got credit for.
She said the government had a lot of work ahead to support Tasmanians, particularly as coronavirus financial supplements came to an end.
