A pair of burglars remain at large after going on a crime spree in the Launceston area overnight, stealing more than $1800 worth of spirits and causing more than $1000 damage to local small businesses.
Police say that about 11.30pm last night, the unidentified suspects stole a white flat tray utility from Glen Dix Electrical at Mowbray.
The duo drove the stolen vehicle to Riverside Plaza about 1.30am, where they used a tire iron to smash through the front entrance to a Liquor Stax store. There they stole roughly $880 worth of spirits and caused approximately $500 worth of damage to the store.

They then went to the Newstead Hotel about 1.43am.
The suspects attempted to stop the stolen vehicle from rolling away using a stolen bottle of liquor, which was unsuccessful. They then put the tire iron behind one of the rear wheels.
“Both offenders then kicked the glass door [of the business] until it smashed, gaining entry,” a Tasmania Police incident report read.
They made off with approximately $950 worth of spirits and caused about $500 worth of damage.
“Police attended the scenes, obtained statements and completed reports,” the statement read.
Furthermore, CCTV footage was obtained from both scenes.
The Northern CIB will carry out a follow-up investigation into the string of crimes.
