تنها اتهام جنایی مربوط به اتهامات آزار جنسی علیه اندرو کومو فرماندار سابق نیویورک توسط یک قاضی رد شد.

آقای کومو که اواخر سال گذشته استعفا داد، همواره این ادعا را که در منزل رسمی خود دستش را در پیراهن زن گذاشته و سینه های او را لمس کرده است، تکذیب کرده است.

اگرچه این تنها اتهام کیفری علیه مرد 64 ساله در رابطه با اتهامات آزار جنسی در اطرافش بود، اما امکان طرح دعوی مدنی همچنان باقی است.

این اتهام طی یک جلسه استماع مجازی کوتاه در دادگاه شهر آلبانی در برابر قاضی هالی ترکسلر لغو شد.

آقای کومو برای مدت کوتاهی در پس‌زمینه پخش ویدئویی وکیلش دیده شد که ماسک سیاهی بر تن داشت و همیشه ساکت بود.

دادستان جنیفر مک‌کانی گفت: ما تمام شواهد موجود را بررسی کرده‌ایم و به این نتیجه رسیده‌ایم که نمی‌توانیم با موفقیت در این پرونده محکومیت بگیریم.

او افزود که برخی از شواهد از روایت او حمایت می کند، اما برای محکومیت او در دادگاه کافی نیست.
